The Heights of Prayer and Faith

7/5/2011

Good Morning,

From the heights of prayer and faith, we can see the plain path and know we are going home.  Yes, our perplexities would become plain if we kept on a spiritual elevation. Often when the traveler loses his way, or the hunter in the woods and fields is disoriented, he can discern the way again from some hilltop where all the winding paths on which he has come appear behind him, and the whole road home opens up. So, from the heights of prayer and faith, we too can see the plain path and know we are going home.

There is no other way in which we can gain the victory over the world. We must rise above it. We must see it from the side of our  reward, from heavenly places.  Then it will look like earthly objects do after we have gazed upon the sun for a while. We are blind to them.

When a production worker in a factory finds that he is heir to a great estate, you cannot tempt him anymore with the wages he had before.  If we know the hope of our calling and the riches of the glory of our inheritance we can well despise the things of the world. It is the poor starving ones who go hungering for the husks of earth. We are born from above and have a longing to go home. Let us go forward today with our hearts on the home stretch

"But God, who is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which He loved us even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ - by grace you have been saved - and raised us up with Him and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,....."
