The Celebration by Tim Smith The Story: I'll admit it. I REALLY get excited when my hard work combines with a well-placed shot. This is especially true when the results are tasty morsels on the table and/or a trophy on the wall. Let me first say I don't plan the fist pump, high five or the occasional "Breaking Too-Electric Boogaloo" get-down dance that happens in my stand. It just bursts out of me! But, I've also learned that this reaction is quite natural due to a chemical-scientific-hormone thing that happens in the body. Let me pass this process on to you. Here's how it works: 1) the mere sight of a big buck or long- bearded gobbler kick starts the production of copious amounts of endogenous opioid peptides (a.k.a. endorphins or "jazz juice") in the body, 2) the trigger pull of the weapon or release of an arrow sling shots this mother-lode of jazz juice to our brain's limbic system and our opioid receptors 3) upon arrival of the juice to the opioid receptors, it's game over - a "harvest high" occurs and a man has no control over the style, fury, or fashion of the celebration that happens. It's just science in action and completely natural! (Feel free to use this dialogue as a reference when explaining this phenomena to your spouse.) The Word: Jesus himself tells us about another type of celebration that occurs in heaven. "...I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents" (Luke 15:10). That's way cool! Every time someone turns to Christ as their Lord and Savior a celebration of Angels occurs. That's way better than any tree stand "get down" here on earth. My question for you today is this; has there been a celebration in heaven because of you. Field Tip: As proven above, "jazz juice" can result in some serious celebrations in the stand. However, don't let the celebration end in tragedy. According to the National Bowhunter Education Foundation, 55% of elevated stand users still do not use a fall arrest device and 25% of all falls result in some sort of serious injury or death. Bottom line, don't be a statistic. Get a safety harness and use it! Our great friends at Hunter Safety System offer a complete line of safety harnesses that are highly functional and great fitting. Check out their complete line of harnesses at the Hunter Safety System website. Making Him Known, Tim Smith

Tim SmithField Tips is a light-hearted look at everything outdoors. The stories will make you laugh, the verses from God's Word will inspire you and it'll always provide a "tip" you can take into the deep woods. The best part is you can read it all in under two minutes (even if you're like me and a proud product of the Alabama Public School System). Archives
