Good Morning,
“Brother Saul.” Ananias was the first Christian to call the former persecutor “brother.” Anyone that comes to Christ by saving faith, is received into the family immediately, as Paul was. Hearing himself referred to as "Brother", he must have instantly realized that the Church is a family, and he was included in the family circle. He had brothers and sisters to stand beside him as human examples of the love and power of Jesus. They would pray for him, give to him, hear from him, and rejoice in every mission he conducted for their common Lord. A great number of brothers and sisters were referred to by name in "Brother Paul's" letters. He would enjoy family reunions, meeting with his brothers and sisters to report his missionary adventures. That’s why we have worship services: We gather to honor our Lord and to rejoice in what He is doing in, with, and through all of our lives. The psalmist said, “God sets the lonely in families......” Psalms 68:6a. Everyone needs to belong, to be part of a family and a community. At Dogwood Community Church, we are having a special day Sunday. All have been ask to invite and bring a friend to service, and then to enjoy a combined Thanksgiving/Christmas dinner. Do you have friends that are not attending church? Invite them, or bring them with you Sunday. God bless you and yours, have a great day, and never forget that you are loved!!! Henry

Good Morning,
Milk and cookies, cheese and crackers, bacon and eggs, and peanut butter and jelly, are just of few of the things that seem to just go together. Also we can find that idea in the Bible. We have Adam and Eve, David and Goliath, Priscilla and Aquila, and Paul and Silas. The last verse of 2 Peter, verse 18, highlights one of these biblical dynamic duos--grace and knowledge. Peter says, "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ". To study to grow in knowledge, we need to make provisions of the duo of time and place. Growing in a knowledge of God means, again a duo: 1. Understanding what He did for us; 2. What He wants us to do. It means applying the Word to our lives daily. To grow in grace has the same duo present in our progress. 1. What God's grace has do for us, as He extended in our direction. 2. What it means for us to extend grace to those around us. God bless, and have a Great Day! Henry |
