Don't Use a Starting Block, but Time with God

Good morning,

"Cause me to hear Thy lovingkindness in the morning, for in Thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk for I lift up my soul unto Thee.   Psalm 143:8

In today's modern, rushing world, many of us have all we can do to get out of bed in the morning and get to work on time. Often our schedule has already decide for us that there is no time for a morning devotional. Yet under the old dispensation of the law it was the duty of the priestly tribe of the Levites to rise at dawn and give thanks and praise the Lord:  "And to stand every morning to thank and praise the Lord, and likewise at even:"  1 Chronicles 23:30

We are not under the dispensation of the law, but as New Testament priests we too should begin the day with God. If we do, we will have a keen sense of His presence with us throughout the busy hours that follow.  "Ye also,as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ."  1 Peter 2:5  And again in verse 9:  But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, shew forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light:"

This great truth was obviously known by David. One of the most enjoyable verses to come from his pen is:  "Cause me to hear Thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in Thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto Thee."

With this start to our day, we can be sure that our faithful Lord will be near and will bless our day.

Henry
