Hi,
Hospitality is much more than exotic menus, elegant table settings and decorations, and fancy entertainment. It is sharing what you have and who you are in Jesus with the people God brings your way. At Dogwood, our "Small Group Ministries" provide a great opportunity for one to fulfill this duty in a very simple, loving way. For those in Bible times, hospitality was a necessity in the harsh desert regions. It was openly rewarded when extended fully, and openly punished when one was negligent in this matter. Today, we are to extend hospitality to those less fortunate, those in need, those who could never repay in the same way. In the New Testament, Jesus modeled hospitality perfectly. He met both the physical and emotional needs of those who came to Him (Matthew 15:32-39). New Testament writers encouraged believers to practice hospitality toward other Christians saying, "Offering hospitality to one another without grumbling" (1 Peter 4:9). Let me encourage you to consider signing up for a "Small Group" this month, and enjoy the hospitality extended to you; the warmth of a Christian home and the fellowship in the word of God and in prayer. May the Lord bless you today, and always remember that you are loved!!! Henry
