The Rearview Mirror

The Rearview Mirror

Some of the most interesting wisdom can be found in kids cartoons.  I should know this concept well since my wife and I have been blessed with seven beautiful children.  One such piece of wisdom comes from the movie "Cars".  I have seen this movie a hundred times or more.  Sometimes it feels like a 100 times in one day!  At one point the kids would just watch the movie over and over again never getting tired of it and always laughing at all the jokes as if it were the first time they had heard them.  There is a scene from the movie that seems to play back in my mind from time to time.  In the scene Towmater, a rusty old tow truck, is trying to teach Lightning McQueen, a finely tuned race car, how to drive backwards.  Towmater does it with ease and the scene is pretty comical how Towmater just whirls around the country side in reverse leaving the rearview mirror lacking Lightning McQueen dumb founded as he watches Towmater drive in reverse.  Then Towmater stops and says something amazing, brilliant, insightful, and convicting.  Towmater says "its easy to know where your going when you know where you've been." Wow...what great wisdom from a G rated kids cartoon character.

Recently we added another tool to the Without Excuse Ministries line-up of ways in which we can share the Gospel together as a family!  As the founder of Without Excuse Ministries it is my personal conviction that this ministry is not built upon me traveling the country sharing the Gospel by myself, but rather more about us as a family having the honor to share the Gospel to hunters, outdoorsmen, and the wonderful folks He places in our path on a daily basis.  We desire for our family to be a blessing to those we meet.  So with that being said we have made adjustments this year to how we will travel in the future.  As much as possible we will travel together to the ministry venues in the 1997 motorhome pictured above.  This 1997 Coachman Mirada boasts a Chevy Big Block 454 under the hood and so far it has purred down the highway as we head out for adventure in God's great outdoors.

Since we purchased this motorhome there have been many times I have looked into the rearview mirror to see what was behind the RV as we traveled down the road.  Here is the wonderful reality of looking into that rearview mirror.  While gazing into that mirror I also see a beautiful group of people the Lord has blessed me with that I am proud to call my family!  One of them calls me husband and the other seven call me daddy.

The RV life will be a devotional that helps us remember our past so that we know how to move forward in our future.  As our family travels throughout God's marvelous creation in this motorhome, sharing the love of Christ with those we meet, we will try to take a moment to reflect and share a note with you on what we have learned while gazing into The Rearview Mirror of our lives.

II Corinthians 3:18 NKJV - But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Paul and Lisa, it blesses me to see you sharing your love of The Lord with others all over. I will pray for you
and your precious family. Be safe and may God richly bless your ministry.
