Sunrise by bro Whether watching the day unfold from a treestand, or from the back porch at the house, I’m often reminded of a Mossy Oak commercial on TV where Mossy Oak owner, Toxey Haas, says, “I figure God only gave us so many sunrises...I don’t want to miss one.” How true that statement is! There is something spectacular about watching the sun rise. I love those moments in the treestand or ground blind when I am able to experience the start of another day. There is a sacred silence that seems to be present just before life in the woods begins to stir once again. As dawn approaches, the woods slowly come to life with the sights and sounds that continue to draw us back season after season. But there’s something about experiencing a sunrise that is simply amazing. To witness God’s hand at work as He orchestrates the beginning of a new day and the rising of the sun is something I just don’t want to miss. I often wonder how a person can watch the sun rise in the morning and not know there is a Creator. Some will say, “I don’t believe in a God.” However, the creation around us not only testifies that there is in fact a God, but the majestic beauty that surrounds us also declares His awesome power. What we see, hear, and experience on our adventures in the outdoors leaves us without excuse for not knowing there is a God. In fact, the Bible speaks of this very thing in Romans 1:20. It says, “For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see His invisible qualities – His eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.” As sportsmen we ought to know this truth as well as anyone! You just can’t live the hunting and outdoor lifestyle and not give credit to the Creator. It’s foolish! “The fool says in his heart there is no God.” (Psalm 14:1) We are in fact given only so many sunrises. Our days here on earth are numbered. I sure don’t want to be guilty of wasting one! Hey, the next time you watch that sun ease up on an early morning, don’t be fooled into thinking, “It just happens.” You better know, it’s the hand of a mighty God at work when the day unfolds and the sun begins to rise once again. www.BroOutdoors.com
