Preparing For The Day by Brodie Swisher There are countless hunters across the country anxiously awaiting the arrival of opening day. The day was marked on the calendar many months ago and relentless preparation for the moment has been made. While some hunters remain faithful in their pre-season preparation, I often encounter guys that have grown lazy in the weeks prior to opening day. They neglect practice and preparation saying, “I’m ready. I’m not touching my bow again until the opener.” And while I understand their intent, I know there is no time for half-hearted laziness in the days leading up to the opener. With great diligence we must practice with our gear ensuring it performs flawless and becomes second nature. It’s easy to gawk at success photos from other hunters that have had an earlier opportunity to start their hunting season and attempt to live vicariously through their experience. But the fact is our own moment is coming. Mine. Yours. How are you preparing for game day? How are you preparing for the moment of truth? And what about life beyond the woods? How are you preparing for the moment you’ll stand before God? The day is soon coming. Much sooner than we think. There is no time for spiritual laziness as we wait on that day. I encourage you to do good, be diligent, follow Jesus, and live for the King today! “So let's not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don't give up.” Galatians 6:9
