Running To Win by Bro This week while doing an archery camp outreach on the Navajo Indian Reservation in New Mexico, I met a little girl that has joined us every day to participate in shooting bows and playing the games we’ve offered. On the first day, the tiny little girl struggled to even get an arrow on the string and come to full draw with her bow. But over the course of a few days, after much anxious practice, she began to put it all together and has become quite an accurate little archer. However, what’s impressed me most about this little girl is her eagerness to do her best. She wants to win. So when it was her time to run a relay race we call the “Moose Drag” she once again went full throttle. She ran to win. She even outran many of the boys! I was blessed and impressed when I watched this little girl run as fast as her little legs would take her, and when she got to the finish line she lunged forward, head first, and fell across the finish line in her effort to win. I couldn’t help but think about how, in many ways, I’d like to run my life like this little girl ran her race. I want to give it everything I got. I don’t want to look back with regrets. I want to run to win! I want to run the race of life in such a way that when I dive head first across the finish line and stand before God in heaven He’ll say, “Well done Bro!!!” Are you running to win? “Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize.” 1 Corinthians 9:24-25
