Rick Knochel and Wishbone A fellow pro-staff member at Midwestwhitetail harvested this great buck he calls Wishbone on the opening day of the Missouri bow season. He worked hard to pattern this buck and develope a plan to harvest him early. It all came together in one blessed moment with his brother running the camera by his side! Here is Rick's thoughts on the hunt. What a blessing to hunt with fellow believers who give God credit for all that He does for us! The following words are Rick's thoughts Date: September 15th (Openning day of Missouri Archery Season) Time: 6:30 p.m. Looking back on this day, it is obvious that God had his hand in this hunt. Too many things fell into place to say that it was just by chance. It is it foolish of me to think that the Lord of Lords, Creator of Heaven and Earth, actually cares about me taking a deer. Maybe, but when you have a deep personal relationship with God, you start to see that God can show his love in some of the oddest most personal ways you could think of. Anyway, the story of "Wishbone" started this summer when I sat over a bean field and filmed "Wishbone" and his running buddy "Rib Bone" up close and personal. I got within 30 yards of both of these deer, and even remember thinking how lucky I was to be withing bow range of such an interesting buck. Wishbone got his name because he has two giant brow tines on his right side that resemble a wishbone. Never did I think that I would have the opportunity to harvest this buck on the openning day of Missouri bow season. It was 6:30 and my brother and I were enjoying the night. Obviously we were shocked to look up and see "Wishbone" coming our direction at about 50 yards. My brother Joe quickly got on the buck with the camera and when he turned broadside at 30 yards, I let the arrow fly. I watched as my fletchings disappeared into the boiler room of the buck. What an amazing night! I was truly excited and have heard many people say that it is the greatest feeling ever, that nothing compares. They are almost correct. It is an amazing feeling, but nothing compares to a personal relationship with the King of Kings! The power of the Holy Spirit is truly Out of This World!!
