The Man Minute- Sixty second investments in Christ-like manhood

A phrase that's built in to every man's vocabulary, "return on investment" is what drives most every decision we make both personally and professionally. We want to know that our work, our decisions, our efforts, all of it, will pay off for us in the end. Therefore, we measure our successes by a return on investment.

Measuring success is, though, a moving target, because every company, every business, every industry, measures growth in various ways that differ from industry to industry. Success is important, but the real question is, "Who gets to define success?"

The Scriptures tell us that if we sow in the flesh, the carnal nature, we'll reap the best the flesh can offer. If we sow in all things eternal, we will reap a harvest straight from the heart of God. We all have employers, but we must work for the Lord, both in and beyond the marketplace. God does measure success, but His measurements may not ever pay out a tangible dividend here on earth. If you choose to plant your life into eternal fields, you can, however, know that you are guaranteed a return that is beyond anything in the here and now. Every man must choose who's definition of success he wants measuring his life.

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.  - Galatians 6:7-9
